Here’s Why Everyone Is Obsessed With Too Faced Peach Perfect Foundation

From byrdie

As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know—tough life). Reviewed is a series where we report on some of the best products we’ve tried. Whether it’s a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you’ll find all of our favorites in this column. Enjoy!

“Magic in a tube.”

“Flawless.”

“Holy-grail foundation.”

Those comments found in the review section of Sephora’s website pretty much sum up the public’s sentiments about Too Faced’s latest product, Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation. For the first time ever, the beauty brand created an exclusive collection of foundation for the retailer. It claims to do the following:

  • Smooth skin
  • Last up to 14 hours
  • Smell like peaches and sweet fig cream
  • Be suitable for every skin type
  • Be transfer-resistant

Foundation can be a divisive product. I’m the type of person who only uses foundation when I go out at night or for special occasions that involve heavy Instagram use. Most foundations tend to make me break out or be too matte for my liking. But as someone who is always intrigued by hype, I wanted to give this foundation a shot. (Over 900 loves on Sephora cannot be wrong, right?)

First, it really does last long. My oily, combination skin tends to cut the staying power of most makeup by at least half the time it’s supposed to stay on. But this foundation lasted me through work, dinner with friends, and late-night drinks afterward. The whole transfer-resistant claim is also pretty spot on; I do have to confess that I fell asleep with my makeup on (bad beauty editor, I know), and I did not stain my white pillows or sheets.

Second, I did not look too made up. My biggest gripe with matte foundation is that it makes me look cakey. As a result, I’ve stayed far away from them. This one in particular is made with a special matte technology that blends into the skin naturally while controlling any excess oil. You get great coverage that smooths out any uneven skin texture.

The only critique I really have is the smell. Don’t get me wrong, I love the sweet smell of peach and sweet fig cream (these ingredients are also known to be super hydrating and have antioxidant benefits). But I have a hard time wrapping my mind around makeup that has a distinct food smell. That could just be me.
