Oh, the Grammys. Whether or not you watched the star-studded spectacle last night, chances are you’ve seen some of the head-turning looks that graced the red carpet by now (thank you, Instagram). One of our favorites of the night was Bella Hadid’s sultry, sleek, and romantic hair-and-makeup combo. “Our inspiration for Bella’s makeup look was a modern, bronzed Italian sex bomb in La Dolce Vita!” says her makeup artist, Vincent Oquendo, who used Kat Von D and Sephora Collectionmakeup products to create the look. Sex bomb indeed—we couldn’t stop staring at her smoldering yet subdued smoky eye and taupe lip. Luckily for us, Oquendo gave Byrdie the exclusive behind-the-scenes diary of how exactly he got Hadid red carpet–ready. Plush lips, perfectly groomed eyebrows, and a well-deserved post-glam nap (amid a pile of beauty products, naturally) were involved.

Ed. note: Oquendo used Sephora Collection’s The Mascara ($12) then layered the brand’s Luxe False Lashes ($17) on top for a fluttery fringe. On Hadid’s eyes, he used the Liberatus shade from Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Contour Palette ($46) then added Metal Crush Eyeshadow ($21) in Thunderstruck on the inner corners of her eyes.
